Every year, on the first Saturday of October, the historic buildings that house banks and (since 2015) banking foundations all over Italy open their doors to the public. Free guided tours are provided.
The aim of the initiative is to provide tens of thousands of locals, tourists and enthusiasts with the opportunity to visit historic buildings that would normally be closed to the public, as they usually function as workplaces. During its latest editions, the initiative has been extended also to banks housed in modern buildings of great architectural value.
Every year the contest “An Image for the Invitation to the Palace” is also announced, in order to choose an official image for the event. The contest is open to all students attending Academies of Fine Arts and design schools.
In Palermo, both at Palazzo Branciforte and Villa Zito, the event starts at 9.30 a.m.
